Ford Focus water pump ?

Is it true that Ford water pumps don't last as long as other makes?
no they last just the same time. ford recommend you change your belt every 100,000 miles but i would opt for 80,000 as it will work out cheaper. (incase the belt snaps ) pumps are not expensive for them anyway we sell them quite cheap.
my partner has a y reg focus and for the past yr hes had so much trouble with his water pump, hes had repairs dome twice,he is a taxi driver so i would say that his has worn with mileage rather than years
At 71,000 miles you should have replaced your timing belt by now. If you haven't, replace it or have it replaced. While your in there also do the water pump. I make this a habit on all my cars. It's cheap insurance against having somethin exactly like your describing happen. Yes, if the pump leaks it can contaminate and break the timing belt. I also replace the idler and tensioner at the same time. Again just cheap insurance. It's enough of a pain to do the timing belt every 60k. Why go in there an extra time.
I would want to know if you have kept the antifreeze always
in engine.
If you have then since the cost of a timing belt and the difficulty of having enough space to replace the belt and the
water pump I would replace both at time you have a leak
or the wobble that is created just before the Babbitt bushing is totally gone and water (antifreeze) starts to leak.
The car is a ford escort in disguise.
Its the Miles!
71,000 miles, its time to replace your timing belt anyways, you mind as well do the water pump while your there.
